MY STORY

Health and nutrition hasn't always been a priority in my life. That all changed when my 2 year old daughter was diagnosed with a rare, potentially fatal autoimmune disease called juvenile dermatomyositis. We went from carefree to consumed by this disease. Fortunately, we received an immediate diagnosis (some children do not) so the prognosis was good but the treatment was challenging. We followed the traditional treatment methods for a few years, but I realized we were only providing her with symptom suppression and not getting to the root cause of her illness.

I became intrigued (ok, obsessed) with nutrition and using foods and a holistic approach to help my daughter heal. So far, so good.... it's years later and my daughter remains disease free and going strong!

I received my nutritional training and certification through the Institute of Integrative Nutrition. While at IIN, I was trained in more than 100 dietary theories and studied a variety of practical lifestyle coaching methods. I am also certified as a nutrition coach through the National Academy of Sports Medicine.

I am a graduate of the Augusta School of Massage in Evans, Ga. My certification in massage and bodywork therapy included studies in: anatomy, kinesiology, pathology, active isolated stretching, aromatherapy and reflexology, along with orthopedic, myofascial, neuromuscular & prenatal massage. I am licensed in South Carolina and Georgia & I am a member of Associated Bodywork & Massage Professionals. I am also certified as a stretching & flexibility coach through the National Academy of Sports Medicine.

I realize that health is not just about food but also about our mind/body connection and I have learned that integrating the two is just as important as accessing them individually. I am passionate about sharing my personal story along with all I have studied and learned in hopes of empowering others to transform their relationship with food, their body and their health.
